A paving job is only as good as what's underneath it. Zilembo's builds every asphalt surface from the ground up — excavation, gravel base, grading for drainage and compaction — so your pavement stands up to Maine's freeze-thaw cycles, plows and heavy use for years to come.
What's included
- Excavation and removal of old or failed pavement
- Properly graded, compacted gravel base

Asphalt Paving FAQs
How long does new asphalt take to cure?
You can usually walk on new asphalt the next day and drive on it after 2–3 days. Asphalt fully cures over 6–12 months, so avoid sharp turns in place and heavy equipment early on.
When is paving season in Maine?
Paving is typically done from spring through late fall, when temperatures are warm enough for hot-mix asphalt to compact properly. Book early — schedules fill quickly.
Can you pave over my existing driveway?
Sometimes. If the base is solid, an overlay can be a cost-effective option. If there's widespread cracking or soft spots, we'll recommend a full removal and replacement so the problem doesn't come back.
